Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri on Thursday called for an international commission of inquiry into the recent events in Jerusalem.
“Egypt affirms the right of the Palestinians to defend themselves,” Shukri said at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers.
“The meeting today comes one month after the Jerusalem summit, and the continuation of the crisis, which is the origin of the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian people are under occupation and the right to defend their legitimate rights.”
“East Jerusalem is under occupation, and the recent Arab summit has expressed this, and any transfer to any embassy to Jerusalem will remain null and void.”
US President Trump decided to transfer the embassy to Jerusalem, despite wide international and regional objections, which he described as a stark challenge to the norms and covenants and international laws.
