Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi said that “Iraq has been able to raise the rates of production of gas oil” gas “to exceed the rates of domestic consumption, declaring the ministry stopped importing material – for the first time – since 2003.
Al-Luaibi said in a statement on Monday that the production of “Jazz” in March amounted to 17.16 million cubic meters per day and that storage capacity increased to 360 thousand cubic meters.
Al-Luaibi said that the increase in production coincided with the arrival of Iraqi refineries’ production capacities to their pre-2014 levels.
He added that the Iraqi oil cadres were able to restart these refineries and raise their production rates to currently between 550 and 600 thousand barrels per day.
Al-Allaibi pointed to the ministry’s efforts to achieve self-sufficiency of this article and reduce the amount of imports to more than 50%.
