The members of the Security Council, the International minute of silence for the victims of the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza yesterday, the martyrdom of dozens of peaceful protestors who came out to denounce the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem.
The massacre killed 62 Palestinians and injured more than 2,770, when hundreds of thousands marched peacefully in the framework of the return march, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Nakba and condemning the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolai Mladenov, reviewed the situation in the Palestinian territories and called for the strongest condemnation of the acts that led to the deaths of victims in Gaza. At the meeting, Kuwait’s representative to the United Nations Mansour al-Otaibi strongly condemned the massacre in Gaza and added that Israeli violations would not have happened if the Security Council had confronted them.
Al-Otaibi expressed his surprise at the failure of the Security Council to adopt the draft press statement presented by Kuwait to denounce the Gaza massacre yesterday, and stressed his country’s support for any move towards the UN General Assembly if the Security Council fails to act to stop the massacre in Gaza.
Al-Otaibi stressed that the transfer of diplomatic missions to Jerusalem is contrary to international resolutions, pointing out that East Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine, and demanded recognition of the State of Palestine and its capital.
Disdain for the Palestinians

Israel’s representative to the UN, Danny Danon, said that the Palestinians had tried to enter Israel from Gaza. He said that Hamas was a terrorist organization hiding behind the children to achieve its goals by targeting Israel and inciting the Palestinians against terrorism.

She stressed that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the capital of the historic Jewish people.
