The Wasit Governorate police decided on Thursday to impose a curfew on vehicles in the province after midnight, after announcing earlier that there was no curfew.
The director of relations and information of the police leadership Wasit Captain Hassan Awad said in an interview with Alsumaria News that “according to an urgent telegram, it was decided to apply a ban on the roaming of bicycles and wheels of all kinds within the province and between the neighboring provinces.”
Awad explained that the ban “starts at 12 pm, until further notice.”
The police chief of Wasit province, Major General Qassim Rashed Zwaid , had confirmed earlier Friday that all polling stations are fully insured, noting that there is no curfew in the province on Saturday coincide with the day of general elections.
It is scheduled to start on Saturday, the twelfth of May in all governorates, the general legislative elections for the selection of members of the Federal Council of Representatives in its fourth legislative session.
